1991
When Dame Margot Fonteyn passed away on 21 February 1991, and Antoinette Sibley CBE (now DBE) was elected President of the RAD.

1992
Higher grades were added in 1992, providing an alternative to the vocational training route and prompting another worldwide roll-out of courses for teachers.

1993
Lillian Attard (Malta) is awarded the President’s Award for her dedicated service to the RAD.

1994
The College of the Royal Academy of Dance offers degrees for the first time. Students could register for the first time on a three-year course in the ‘Art and Teaching of Ballet’, validated by the University of Durham.

1995
Brazil celebrated the 75th RAD Anniversary. Three big shows were organised in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Salvador. Two “corps de Ballet” were organised with students being chosen by teachers’ committees in São Paulo and Salvador.

The Benesh Institute (now Benesh International) was incorporated within the RAD. A royal gala was held to commemorate this event. The ‘Stars of the Night’ programme cover shows Viviana Durante as the Grand Duchess Anastasia.
