RAD Dance School Bursaries
We are committed to breaking down barriers to dance, and as such, we can offer a Dance School Bursary. This scheme is generously supported by the RAD Patrons’ Circle and offers financial support to young dancers in Wandsworth to cover the cost of RAD classes.
We encourage applications for the upcoming academic year (2026-27) to be made by 8 August 2026.
All of the information regarding the application process and criteria is in the Dance School Bursary Application Pack.
You are welcome to download the Dance School Bursary Application Form and submit by email to danceschool@rad.org.uk.
RAD Dance School Exams
The RAD Dance School is an Approved Examination Centre offering students of all ages a full range of exams and assessments. These are internationally recognised and accredited by the Qualifications and Credit Framework, providing students with:
- achievable goals
- recognition from the world’s largest ballet examination board
- qualifications accredited by UK regulatory authorities, and
- the impetus to achieve their best in a fun and nurturing environment.
Students start with ‘Dance to Your Own Tune’, move up through Pre-Primary and Primary in Dance levels, and then on to eight Grades with a further six Vocational Levels. They may move from Graded to Vocational classes, or study both simultaneously.
Candidates who have achieved a Pass or higher at Grades 6-8, Intermediate or Advanced Foundation can use their exam results toward their UCAS points tariff when applying to university and higher education in the UK. For further information, contact us at danceschool@rad.org.uk

Frequently asked questions
Can I phone you to make an application?
No. At present we are only able to accept online. All the information you provide will be stored in accordance with our privacy notice.
Who should I list as the customer?
The customer is a parent/guardian if the student is under 18, or the student themselves if over 18. Whoever is listed as the customer will be sent all communication and invoices, so it is vital that contact details are correct.
What should the student wear for a trial class?
Students are not expected or required to wear the correct uniform for their first class, but we do ask that comfortable clothing suitable for dancing is worn, and that hair is tied up neatly.
Can parents watch trial classes?
No. Parents are not permitted to watch trial assessments.
