Summer School 2025 – Teachers
We are excited to present this varied and stimulating programme for teachers at Summer School 2025. Aligned to one of the RAD core values – Champions of Wellbeing – the course aims to:
- explore how wellbeing is fundamental to the teaching of dance,
- encourage best practice in teaching the steps and vocabulary of dance,
- provide practical strategies for injury risk reduction and how to maximise performance,
- provide information and evidence-informed strategies for teachers to identify and appropriately support students who are at risk of developing an eating disorder, and
- provide skills to increase engagement and enhance the overall effectiveness of their websites and social media channels.

Syllabus Insights – Julie Fleming – available for teachers to observe
Julie Fleming is well known and highly respected as a CDP tutor in Australia and we are looking forward to welcoming her to Summer School. Julie’s Syllabus Insights workshops promise to be an enriching and thought-provoking experience. She will demonstrate and discuss effective strategies for tackling challenging syllabus areas and helping students achieve their personal best in exams: There will be 2 Syllabus Strategies workshops in addition to and separate from the Teachers’ course for teachers to observe:
- Thursday 16 January – Intermediate and Advanced Foundation: teachers can observe this workshop. Independent CPD hours; $35
- Friday 17 January – Advanced: teachers can observe this workshop. Independent CPD hours; $35

Scholarships
The Creina Gee Memorial Fund was established to enhance excellence and professionalism within Dance Teaching in New Zealand, by providing financial assistance for dance teachers or trainee dance teachers to undertake courses of study which meet the criteria for Time-Valued CPD hours.
