This practical course is designed to deepen participating teachers’ understanding of the content and requirements of the Advanced Foundation (Male and Female) syllabus. You will explore how to further develop technique, artistry, musicality and creativity in students in relation to the content of the examination.

Aims

This course aims to give participants a greater knowledge of the content and deeper understanding of the appropriate development required for success in the teaching of this syllabi level.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will understand the:

Aims of the syllabus,
Learning outcomes and assessment criteria,
Choreographic content,
Guidelines on how to further develop technique, artistry, musicality and creativity in students in relation to the content of the examination,
Teaching methods appropriate for the delivery of the syllabus, and
Advice on preparation and procedures.

Dates and Times

This course will be split across three days:

8 February, 9am – 2pm GMT
9 February, 9am – 1pm GMT
10 February, 9am – 12pm GMT

You must attend all three sessions. This course will not be recorded. Please note, the longest session is on the first day, and the following two days are shorter.

This activity will be hosted on Zoom. You will be sent details of how to join the activity within five working days prior to the start date.

Resources

You will require the following resources:

A computer/laptop/tablet with internet connection, a camera, microphone and speakers

This is a practical course, please ensure you have space to move and have your camera turned on to actively participate.

Participants should watch the syllabus DVD/video on the RAD app for Advanced Foundation, and read the Specifications.

Tutor

Ruth Henry BA Hons LRAD ARAD RTS

Ruth graduated from the BA (Hons) in Ballet Education degree course, and attained the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance (LRAD). She currently works as a freelance ballet teacher in London, UK and the surrounding areas, and tutors on numerous RAD teacher training programmes, including the LRAD. Ruth joined the panel of RAD examiners in December 2021.
