Hopal Romans

Lecturer in Dance Education

Since joining the RAD in August 2017, my contribution to the teaching programmes in the Faculty of Education focuses on the university-validated programmes of study, Dance Histories, Repertoire and Techniques, Performance Practice, Professional Development and teaching placements.

My background includes working as a performer in dance and theatre companies in the United States and the United Kingdom, as a freelance contemporary dance teacher and Arts Education Manager for the dance charity ‘Independance’, and professional development in the voluntary and community sector. I have a specialist teaching interest in modern dance techniques, particularly the Horton Technique.

In addition to the dance and community sector, I worked for 9 years in music education as Principal Officer – Policy & Programmes for Youth Music, developing music making programmes for children and young people with the least opportunity.
