Chair of Finance and Audit Subcommittee
James has served as a trustee, and as chair of the Finance, audit and risk subcommittee since 2021. He became a member of the committee in 2016 and also serves on the Development committee.
He trained as a chartered accountant and has been involved in the finance world for over forty years, serving as finance director and chief executive for a range of public and private businesses.
James was a trustee of LAMDA for nine years to 2017, chairing its finance committee and serving on its nominations and building committees. During his tenure, LAMDA constructed an award-winning £30 million theatre development. Until 2017, he was an affiliate governor of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama (CDD), an umbrella organisation for eight leading UK dance, circus and drama schools, and sat on its finance committee. James was also a director of Queen’s Club, a leading UK racquet sports club, until 2019 when he also retired as chairman of its finance committee. He lives in London.
