Paula Vacarey
STEP Practitioner
Paula began training in dance at her local ballet school at age 4. After a long break from dance, she found some local classes in jazz and contemporary dance as a teen, which set her on the path to Lewisham College training in Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Tap.
She then trained at The Place (LCDS) gaining a BA Hons in Contemporary Dance and choreography. Alongside dance school training she was on the London club scene learning new jack, Hip- Hip and ragga dance styles. Her interest in hip-hop grew and she trained in Breakin becoming a founder member of the London Breakin crew “Foundationz”. She enjoyed a varied career performing as a B-Girl, a contemporary dancer and an aerialist in theatres, pop tours, videos and festivals in the UK, Europe and the U.S.A. Her teaching career has run parallel to her performing career teaching in dance schools and the local community to people of all ages and abilities. She believes dance is a wonderful form of self-expression, which brings people together, enriches lives and builds confidence and self-esteem. Dance should be enjoyed by the many and not the few.
