Stella Rousham
STEP Practitioner
Stella is a Dance Artist, Choreographer and Dance Writer based in South London. Her dance training started at The Place (2014 – 18), where she studied ballet, contemporary technique, and improvisation. Stella developed an interest in inter-disciplinary choreography after completing the Next Choreography course at Siobhan Davies Studios (2017).
After completing a BA Hons in Human, Social and Political Sciences, she gained experience teaching creative dance for a wide range of age groups and abilities, through her Graduate Internship in Youth Dance Programmes & Public Engagement at Trinity Laban (2022 – 23). Since completing her internship, Stella started work as a Support Artist for Corali Dance Company and a Community Practitioner for The Blair Academy. As a member of an independent dance magazine, and dance art journal, Stella regularly writes reviews and conducts interviews with leading contemporary dance artists, as well as running dance writing workshops.
Stella takes an inclusive and non-hierarchical pedagogical approach, using creative tasks to centre on the agency of participants. The priority is to develop movement vocabulary and foster creative curiosity in a caring and nurturing environment.
