Teresa Blee

Teresa grew up in Redruth and learnt to dance throughout her childhood. She always aspired to become a dance teacher, and after leaving school made the move to London to train at the prestigious Stella Mann College. After graduating with her Teaching Diploma and ISTD Teaching Associates in Ballet, Modern and National, Teresa made the move back to the Duchy and founded Teresa Blee Dance in 1986.

Teresa is a registered teacher with both the RAD and the ISTD, is licensed to teach Silver Swans and is registered as a teacher of Progressing Ballet Technique. She regularly travels to London for the latest training from the RAD.

“I teach in the far South West of Cornwall, UK, in a town called Helston, famous for it’s Flora Day each May. Prior to Covid, I taught 3 classes a week face to face with my Silver Swans, 2 in a beautiful manor house with its resident peacocks who liked to attempt to join in the class, and one in a church hall. Prior to Covid, I had over 40 Swans over the three classes each week, but now that the classes are on Zoom, and there is not so much opportunity for the social side and lovely cups of tea afterwards with friends, I now teach two classes a week over Zoom with about 20 Swans a week over the two classes. It is one of the highlights of my week teaching these classes.  Seeing the sheer joy that the dancing brings them, brings a smile to my face every class. We’re creating new friendships and memories to last.”
