Student – BA (Hons) Dance Education

Studying on the distance learning BA (Hons) Dance Education programme allows me the freedom and support to work full-time and care for my disabled brothers while studying.

The close relationship between my tutors and the other students was something I hadn’t initially expected, but the Intensive Study Seminar really helped to cement that and was a major help to all of us. It is easy to assume you’ll feel alone on the programme because of the distance, but during the week you are reminded that there are other students feeling the same things and asking the same questions.

You don’t have to be teaching at the same time as studying this programme, but the modules really help your confidence and structure in your own classes outside of the RAD. I was originally worried that, unlike some of the students, I am teaching SEN (special educational needs) children rather than just dance, but the tutors took the time to show me how I could incorporate that into the module tasks and explained that I bring something different to the table, just like all the other students.
