Sheila began her ballet training at the age of seven under the guidance of Mdm. Fe Sala Villarica at Balletcenter Cebu in the Philippines, following the R.A.D. syllabus.
In 2005, she was accepted as a Company Apprentice with Ballet Manila, the prestigious company founded by the Philippines’ Prima Ballerina, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde. During her time with the company, she transitioned to the Russian Vaganova Method and trained under distinguished mentors including Tatiana Udalenkova, Sergei Vikulov of the Vaganova Ballet Academy, and Ballet Manila’s Prima Ballerina, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde and ballet master Osias Barroso.
Through dedication and discipline, Sheila became a Company Member in 2006 and was promoted to Soloist in 2008. She performed extensively with Ballet Manila in both national and international tours, including appearances at the Gyeongju World Culture Expo in South Korea and the Nan-ying International Folklore Festival in Taiwan. She was also a finalist in the 2nd National Music Competitions for Young Artists Foundation (NAMCYA) Competition.
In 2012, Sheila joined as a Principal Dancer of the Queen City Metropolitan Ballet in Cebu. Throughout her career, she performed numerous classical and contemporary roles, including Paquita Pas de Trois, Gulnara in Le Corsaire, the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty, Diana in Diana and Acteon, the Pas de Trois from Swan Lake, Princess Florine in the Bluebird Pas de Deux, Romeo and Juliet Pas De Deux, Dancing to Verdi, performances set to the works of Tchaikovsky and many more.
In 2015, Sheila returned to New Zealand to retire from professional performance and focus on family life. She has since continued to share her passion for dance through teaching at Anne Samson School of Ballet.
