‘A celebration of male dancers in paintings’, is on display at the RAD from 15 January – 11 May 2025. It is the first time in the history of art that an exhibition exclusively features paintings of male dancers.

Artist Nadezhda says, ‘It is my mission to change bigoted and discriminatory assumptions about boys and men in the ballet profession. I have created a collection of paintings which are not only ‘balletic’, but also striking images of male emotional expression and astonishing athleticism. My unique and contemporary style points towards comic book art, but is also fine and meticulous in painterly detail, using acrylic paints and real gold and platinum leaf.

The paintings showcase professional ballet dancers from all cultural backgrounds from around the world, including some of the UK’s most iconic stars.’

Nadezhda Lisak is an Academician of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, and a selected member of the Artists Network at the Royal West of England Academy. She specialises in all forms of portraiture, with a passionate commitment to male ballet dancers and musicians. www.nadezhda-portraitartist.com
