The Nutcracker Adult Repertoire Workshop (London)
This winter, we invite you to step into the enchanting world of The Nutcracker with an intensive full-day workshop designed for adult dancers.
Join us on Saturday 14 December for a technical and artistic masterclass focused on this magical Christmas classic.
You will begin with a ballet class designed to refine your technique and set the foundation for the day ahead, before moving on to immerse yourself in a piece of repertoire from The Nutcracker.
With live piano accompaniment bringing Tchaikovsky’s score to life and expert faculty sharing unique insights into the choreography they have performed, this is an immersive festive treat not to be missed!

Who can attend?
Suitable for those age 18+. We offer two different levels to choose from depending on your experience:
Level 1: Open to dancers who enjoy weekly non-syllabus ballet classes at a general level and have some knowledge of ballet technique. (Spaces available in Dilek’s class)
Level 2: Suitable for dancers currently studying at RAD Intermediate Foundation level and above, or equivalent. (Spaces available)

Dilek Taptik – Level 1 Faculty (Spaces available to book)
Initially trained in Vaganova technique by Margot Cardiano, Dilek’s professional training began in Turkey, Mersin Conservatoire for Dance. She later graduated with an Advanced Classical Ballet Degree from the Ballet Academy Cologne, Germany, simultaneously gaining the then offered RAD STC, TC, TD (Teaching diploma) teaching qualifications. She also has a National Diploma in Dance Pedagogy.
There, alongside others she was taught by the former RAD director, Lynn Wallis OBE and many international teachers. Dilek danced as a demi-soloist with the State Opera Turkey, most distinctive role being ‘Giselle’ coached by Nevin Arikoglu of Joffrey Ballet. She danced various classical roles in Europe, mostly Germany. Favourite roles include ‘Arabian Dancer’ in the Nutcracker, Swan Lake corps, Pas de quatre, contemporary and opera pieces. In 2003 she received a scholarship for the 1-year Cert program at London Contemporary Dance School ‘The Place’. She toured with Cologne Theatre Ensemble.
She also trained in New York, USA, where she took class with the late Merce Cunningham Dance School and Merce himself. She performed at the Tate with MCDC and was a dancer for the Cannes Film Festival Straight8 Competition.
Dilek acted in TV and a motion picture alongside Vanessa Paradis.
She was Lead Ballet tutor at the Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Arts Educational Schools London. She is a regular Guest teacher for the IDW Summer School (Barcelona/London) and tutor at the City Literary Institute. She is a registered PBT teacher.
Dilek’s teaching is energetic, knowledgeable, and supports classical ballet technique and safe practice with an emphasis on musicality and artistry.
She is part of the RAD School faculty and director and founder of DT Dance ‘Dilek Taptik School of Dance’ London, Waterloo.
Damien Lee Stirk – Level 2 Faculty (Spaces available to book)
Damien is an international guest teacher specialising in classical ballet and repertoire. He trained in London at The English National Ballet School after being awarded a scholarship from The Rudolf Nureyev Foundation. His professional performing experience includes; English National Ballet, The Israel Ballet, Ballet National de Marseille, Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures and The Royal Ballet.
In 2011 Damien graduated from the Royal Academy of Dance [RAD] gaining distinction for the Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma [PDTD]. His teaching credits include, The Royal Academy of Dance, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, The Royal Opera House, The Place and Matthew Bourne’s Adventures In Motion Pictures and New Adventures companies.
International teaching credits include; Brazil, Denmark, Hong Kong, Israel, India, Japan, Mexico and the USA.
Josh Tuifua – Level 1 Faculty (SOLD OUT)
Josh gained a place with the Royal Ballet School Junior Associates after participating in an outreach program held with Inner London Primary Schools. After his first year as a JA he was invited to join the prestigious Royal Ballet School starting at White Lodge in Richmond Park then completing his training at the Upper School.
Upon graduation Josh joined The Royal Ballet, rising to the rank of Soloist. During his sixteen years with the company, Josh performed numerous roles including: Benvolio (Romeo & Juliet) and Eros (Sylvia), and performed in ballets such as Monotones II (Ashton), Gloria (MacMillan), Sinphonietta (Kylián), Scenés de Ballet (Ashton), Tombeaux (Bintley), The Rake’s Progress (De Valois), Dances Concertantes (MacMillan) & Fearful Symmetries (Page). Josh also established himself as a character artist performing roles including: Gamache (Don Quixote) & Catalabutte (Sleeping Beauty) & The High Brahmin (La Bayadere).
A popular dancer with choreographers, Josh created roles in: Two-Part Invention, Sawdust & Tinsel, Cheating Lying Stealing, When We Stop Talking, Soft Underbelly, Hidden Variables, This House will Burn (Ashley Page), A World of Art, Castle Nowhere (Matjash Mrozewski) and Masquerade, Dance Variations, Water in Homage to the Queen (Michael Corder).
After retiring from the Royal Ballet, Josh gained the Professional Dancers’ Teaching Diploma, graduating with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Dance.

Level 1 with Dilek Taptik (Spaces available)
Dancers will learn repertoire from the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy during the workshop, focussing on the intricacies of this iconic variation!
Level 1 with Josh Tuifua (SOLD OUT)
Dancers will learn extracts of repertoire from the Snowflakes and Arabian Dance during the course of the workshop, with unique insights into the performance.
Level 2 with Damien Lee Stirk (Spaces available)
Dancers will learn repertoire from Act II Waltz of the Flowers during the course of the workshop, with particular insight into the choreographic style.

- Places are limited in each class and secured on a first-come, first-served basis.
