World Ballet Day returns

World Ballet Day returned on 29 October for a global celebration to unite the dance community. It showcased creative teams, dancers and artistic communities across the world, bringing companies together with a day behind-the-scenes.

Each company streamed live rehearsals and insights in accordance with local Covid-19 guidance. We are delighted to have taken part again and our video is now available to watch on Facebook and YouTube, and on this page.

Our video includes:

  • A piece about Barbara Land, a US teacher who has been teaching ballet in the Amazon jungle.
  •  A section showing Grade 5 students working with their teacher Hilary Kaplan in Australia.
  • A section showing grade 5 students working with their teacher Cooper Rust in Nairobi. Cooper won the Community Engagement Dance Teacher Award in the Centenary Dance Awards.
  • Dame Darcey Bussell coaching Genée alumna Anya Mercer, now at English National Ballet School, at RAD HQ.
